Rent Enquiries » Terminating your Tenancy

If you wish to end your tenancy with the Association, YOU must do the following:

  • Give the Association 4 weeks notice in writing that you intend to end your tenancy. As per the terms of your Tenancy Agreement, your tenancy will always end on a Sunday. If you leave without giving us notice, we will charge you rent for those 4 weeks.
  • If requested allow staff into your home so they can inspect and assess the condition of the property. Any repairs which are your responsibility will be pointed out so you will have the opportunity of putting these right before you leave.
  • Make sure that your rent is up-to-date before you leave.
  • Provide us with your new address in case we need to contact you. We will keep this information strictly confidential.
  • Make sure that you remove all your belongings and leave your home in a clean condition. If we have to clear/clean your home we will have to charge you for the cost of doing so.
  • Leave the property secure, with all the windows and doors shut.
  • Return the keys by 12 noon on the Monday immediately after your tenancy ends. The key can be returned to Headrow's office, to the warden or Liaison Tenant where applicable. If you dont return the keys, we will continue to charge you rent.

What Headrow Will Do

  • We will confirm in writing your tenancy termination date and inform you where to hand in your keys.
  • If possible arrange to inspect the property with you.
  • We will ask you to complete a questionnaire. This will give us the reason as to why you are leaving and help us to improve the service we deliver.
