Rent Enquiries » Rent Increases

Headrow has a number of different tenancy types, the increases vary depending on which tenancy type a property falls under. All tenants are given 4 weeks notice in writing of any change to their rent.

Assured Rent Tenancies

This type of rent is charged on tenancies that have commenced after 15th January 1989 and are set by Headrow Limited. The assured rents change once a year in April and the increase is roughly in accordance with the Retail Price Index at that time.

Fair Rent Tenancies

This type of rent is set by the rent officer once every 2 years and is charged on tenancies that commenced before 15th January 1989.

The date of the increase varies from property to property depending upon when the tenancy originally commenced. We apply to the rent officer for a rent in line with the assured rent, If the rent officer returns with a rent that is higher than the amount we applied for, we will only charge the lesser amount. If the rent set by the rent officer is lower than the amount we applied for we will only charge the amount we have been set.

Leaseholders Assured

Leaseholders assured rent is increased once a year on the 1st January in accordance with the Retail Price Index at that time.

Leaseholders Fair

Leaseholders fair rent is set by the rent officer and increases once every 2 years and are charged on leases commencing before January 1989. The date of the increase depends on the commencement date of the lease.
