About Headrow Housing
Headrow Limited has its origins in a group of professional businessmen who in 1973 aimed to run the venture to meet an identified niche in the local housing market.
In 1974, a decision was taken for it to become a non-profit making housing association and it was formally registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 and subsequently with the Housing Corporation.
The very first Headrow Homes were built in 1976. Whilst our base is still in Leeds, we now look after well over 1,500 properties in Yorkshire.
As our housing stock has grown, so has our reputation for value, quality and innovation. On a day to day basis our service - and the excellence of the properties we manage - delivers value to all who live in a Headrow home. Facts that were confirmed in the Independent Tenant Survey conducted in 2000 by the National Housing Federation (NHF) which is being repeated in 2005.
We are equally proud of our record as an innovator. Headrow were one of the pioneers of low-cost shared ownership homes, an idea that continues to help first time buyers place a foot on the property ladder. Later in life, our leasehold schemes for the retired enable older people to continue to be property owners, whilst releasing capital for their own use.
As well as meeting general housing needs and sheltered schemes for the elderly, we provide homes and support for ex-offenders at schemes in Wakefield and, more recently, Bradford.
As a registered non-profit making social landlord, the vast majority of our housing stock is here to provide top quality, affordable housing for rent. In the years to come, Headrow will continue to respond to housing needs and opportunities whenever and wherever they present themselves throughout Yorkshire.
And, of course, we continue to provide top quality affordable housing for people from all walks of life.

In October 2006 Headrow joined the Arena Housing Group as a subsidiary. We will continue to operate under the name of Headrow Limited and we will retain our own Board of Management and staffing structures, and residents will continue to deal with the staff based in Leeds and throughout Yorkshire.
As part of the Arena Group Headrow will have the backing, financial support and extra skills and resources that come from being part of a larger group, to help extend and develop our services to the benefit of residents and other service users.
